WHAT: An NFT or Non-Fungible Token is a unique, non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain. The blockchain acts as a digital ledger that keeps track of the ownership and transactions of the NFT. They are bought and sold online, mostly with <a href="https://www.forbes.com/advisor/in/investing/what-is-cryptocurrency-and-how-does-it-work" target="_blank">cryptocurrency</a>, and are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptos. Each NFT has a digital signature that makes it impossible for them to be exchanged for or equal to one another hence, non-fungible.   NFTs can be any real-world items such as images, art, music, video, GIF, virtual avatars or video game skins and even tweets.    HOW: NFTs were first introduced in 2014 but later came to light in March 2021, when a group of NFTs by Beeple, an American digital artist, sold for a staggering $69 million. This paved the way to a new and exciting digital market that was valued at $41 billion in 2021.    WHY: Most of these digital files are available online and can be easily downloaded for free, then why are people willing to spend millions of dollars in NFTs?
